There is a wide variety of published material which is relevant to assaying.
Finding relevant sources is not always simple. This web site provides a
list of resources relevant to assayers. Titles listed on this page link
to abstracts of each document. Titles in the general
listing are usually accompanied by comments on their relevancy to assayer
training, but the comments do not necessarily summarize content.
This area of Tom's library is a listing of assay publications or
training guides edited, coauthored or authored by Tom Gilbert. Available
assayer papers are grouped as "Public" (formally published) or "In-house"
publications and alphabetized by title. If the paper involves complex authorship,
T. Gilbert's role is listed in parenthesis. If presentation slides from
the original publication are available through this site, the title will
show as an active link. (Slide shows require Powerpoint or a Powerpoint
slide viewer on your computer.) Details on obtaining copies of specific
publications (including, in some cases, text downloads) are listed in abstracts
of each publication. (Click on "call abstract" next to each publication
to view content and accessibility details via a "pop up" window.)
SMA assay publications are available through the Society
of Mineral Analysts Bookstore. Copies of publications that are part
of Independence Mining Company's training program ("in-house" publications)
can usually be downloaded through the Society of Mineral Analysts Method
Service (SMA Membership, initial dues $30, is usually required for unlimited
download access). Contact the Nevada
Mining Association to obtain material published through them. General
assaying publications, as noted IMC assay bibliography database, are usually
available through libraries or bookstores.
If you have trouble obtaining a copy of an assaying publication, contact
me. I may be able to help.
Titles in the general bibliography are sorted by the training classification
system used on this site. Title lists are called by a JavaScript function
on the general bibliography page. Lists are updated periodically from an
assayer training database maintained by Tom for his employer and limited
to material locally available in the JCJV, Great Basin College, or
Elko library.
A hard copy (much less current) printout of this resource list is in the
1998 Training Design publication.
Omissions may from this general bibliography may reflect the needs of
a specialized lab; it may also reflect an omission relevant to the coverage
of this site. Please use the suggestion link in the header frame to suggest
additional tiles for listing on this site.
